Parenting Class for Parents / Guardians of School Aged Children (ages 5-13)

Lunch & Learn

9/7, 9/14, 9/21 & 9/28 11am-noon

Individual: $95 Couple: $140

Please come and join us for a four-week lunch-time parenting class! This class is a strengths-based course focused on giving you the tools you need to raise confident, caring young people. Children do not come with manuals, and many find it challenging to navigate the changing landscape of raising children. Whether you are looking to refine your parenting skills or feel like you are at a loss for where to even start, this class will provide parents/caregivers with tangible tools to help raise compassionate, happy, well-attached children.

We will cover a range of topic including (but not limited to!): How to support your children with friendship/school challenges, avoiding the power struggle, strengthening attachment, homework, best strategies for how to handle challenging behaviors, how to repair when you make a mistake, and how to take care of yourself in this crazy world of parenting! Classes will include time at the end for questions.

There are no perfect parents (and it isn’t your job to be one!). This will be a safe space to learn more tools to support your family. Bring your questions and concerns, your lunch, and your authentic self.

Support Group for Parents / Caregivers of School Age Children (ages 5-13)

Every Wednesday starting 9/6

5:30pm - 6:30pm in-person at Ahava Counseling

Individual: $95  Couple: $140

For most of us, we never realized that the most difficult, demanding, and rewarding job we would ever have was being a parent. There is no manual, no pause button, and sometimes no rest. This group is provided as a space to meet other parents and connect about the challenging and wonderful parts of parenthood. This is an opportunity to be seen, heard, and validated, to learn from the wisdom of your peers and to provide your insight in return. The old adage “it takes a village” comes from real wisdom.

None of us can do this alone.

This group is offered to any and all who would like a welcoming space to land and feel supported. Food will be provided, so all you need to bring is yourself, just as you are.

Meet Melanie

Both groups are facilitated by Melanie Malaspina, LCSW of Ahava Counseling.
